Little Leather Journal Necklace DIY

As promised, here's my little leather journal necklace DIY.

There isn't any paper inside as this is just for looks, but if you actually wanted to add some you could cut some paper to fit and use a leather needle on your sewing machine to sew down the middle of the paper to secure.

You'll need:

A strip of leather approximately 3" long and about 1 1/2"  wide.
You can use recycled leather from a thrifted jacket.

Pliers to attach the jump ring
Awl or bead reamer to make a small hole
Small brad
Jump Ring

Cut your leather.

Cut another small piece about 3 1/2" which will wrap around the larger piece.
Poke a hole in the middle about 1/4" from the end.

Poke a hole in the larger piece in the middle about a 1/4" from the end.

Insert the brad into the end of the strap portion and then into the middle of the book portion.

Fold it in thirds to determine where to punch a hole for the jump ring.

Punch the hole for the jump ring.

Insert the jump ring, fold the book in thirds and wrap the strap around it.

Hang it on another piece of leather or chain or whatever you'd like.
I added little flowers I cut from lace.
I also added a little copper charm to the other end just for fun.

Wear and enjoy!

If you'd like to purchase one, I have a few listed in my Etsy shop.
